About the Canadian OCR Championships
Be part of history at the inaugural Canadian OCR Championships brought to you by Obstacle Sports Canada, World OCR, and Northman Race
These Championships will follow the rules and guidelines of Obstacle Sports Canada, the National Association for OCR and a Member Nation of World OCR. As such, all qualifying athletes will have the chance to be members of the very first Canadian National Team and represent our Nation at the inaugural World OCR Championships happening in September 2020.
Timing
A professional timing system will be used to rank the athletes Overall and in 5-year Age Groups.
Start Times
The race will start at 8:30 AM EST with age groups departing every 15-30 minutes.
The Course
The courses will present athletes with a wide array of challenges including 40+ obstacles for across 12km. The obstacles will include many Northman Race favourites, as well as obstacles from a growing list of Race Brands (Mud Hero, Race B, Race C). Combined with some steep wooded trails, these courses will crown worthy National Champions.

Just like the Olympics and other international multi-sport Games, national teams are qualified through their national federation. The national federations - in this case Obstacle Sports Canada - are non-profit organisations run by and for their members, the athletes. Official teams are limited to 5 people per competitive race category. Additional athletes may run under their country flag in open categories.
What Categories are there?
Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded to the top three athletes in the following age groups:

Will this race qualify me for OCRWC in Stratton, Vermont?
Though we are big fans of the work Adventurey LLC have done to organise, promote, and increase participation in the sport of OCR through the OCWRC race each year we are not affiliated with that business. That being said, there are numerous other races that you can race to qualify for the OCRWC events including Northman Race, Mud Hero, xWarrior Challenge and many others.
Will Obstacle Sports Canada fund qualifying athletes to attend the World OCR Championships in Sochi, Russia?
Though we one day hope to support athlete’s travel costs to Russia, we are not in a financial position to do so. We are hoping to secure discounts from travel providers to lighten the load.
What happens if I fail an obstacle?
As per the World OCR guidelines we will be using a 3 band system. If you fail an obstacle you will lose a band. At the end of the race you will be required to complete a penalty for each band lost (up to two bands). If you lose all 3 bands, you will not get a finishing time or be eligible for awards.
